Dr. Ed Cloutis
Dr. Edward Cloutis has over 25 years of experience in planetary science and research. His research interests include utilizing optical spectroscopy for investigating the nature of planetary surfaces, the development of new techniques for analysis of planetary spectroscopic data, and design and development of next-generation optical spectrometers for planetary exploration. He established the state-of-the-art Planetary Spectrophotometer Facility at the University of Winnipeg, which includes a suite of optical spectrometers and planetary surface environmental simulation chambers. He is active in data analysis from a number of current planetary missions, including the NASA Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, the NASA Mercury Messenger spacecraft, the NASA Mars Exploration Rovers, the NASA/ESA Rosetta comet/asteroid spacecraft, and the ESA Mars Express spacecraft.
